' CHRISTCHURCH, October 21. At the Addington market to-day the range of prices was as given below:— Fat Cattle.—23s camo forward, including somo excellent-quality. Tho demand was keen, and, although a few pens were passed cany in the sale, late rates were well maintained. Beef sold at 28s to 32a Gd per 1001b; bullocks, £7 17s Gd to £1G 7s Gd; heifers, £(i 10s to £10 7s Gd; cows, £5 15s to'£lD. Pat Sheep.—The entry was small, and though a few pens were very prime sheep, the bulk were only ot medium quality. The shortage of prime mutton had the effect of raising prices during the early part of the sale, though they cased again towards tho close. Prime woolly wethers realised 223 Gd to 20s Gd; extra, 32s Gd; lighter, 20s to 225; shorn wethers, 17s 3d to 21s; merino wethers, 10s to 23s 4d; prime woolly ewes, 20s to 21s Gd; extra, 2Ss; lighter, 15s to ISs; shorn ewes, IG3 Id to 17s 3d; hoggets, 10s Id to 21s 9d, Fat Lanib3.—os entered. Country Sales—Messrs Dalgoty and Co. (Limited) report having held their fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday, 16th inst. Tho yarding of sheep was very lunch .smaller than usual, and consisted principally of small lots of fat sheep, and one or two small lots of hoggets. Tho demand for fat sheep was particularly good, there bcincr hardly snfHcicnt to supply tho wants of tho local butchers. Hoggets were also in good demand, and brought really good "prices. The yarding of cattle was comprised to a considerable extent of fat to three-parts fat cattle off turnips, just requiring a month to make them really prime.
