DUNEDIN RIFLE CLUB.

Tho annual meeting of tho Dunedin Rifle Club wao held in Mr Speight's office last evening, who® thero were 10 members present, Sir Montgomery occupying tho chair. The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Your committee hn3 the pleasure to inform members that owing to the Mill road not yet being.open for traffic the Mornington Borough has granted tho club permission to continue to use the old range during its pleasure. As this is of course only a temporary arrangement, the club will eventually have to find a new range. Still, it is a concession for which wo (iio grateful, and our thanks aro due to tho Mornicgton Borough Council. Although the weather during the past season was not of tho "best, tho attendance at the range on S'iturdays was excellent and the competition keen. The thanks of tho club are due to the following for donating prizes: —Messrs A. J. Sliaw, Speight, Ljders, Montgomery, Proudfoot, Clark, Jl'Cnllum, and Moller. It is worthy of note that, with one exception, all the prizes were given by members of the club. The several prizes were won as follows:—Mr Shaw's prize by Mr Speight, with Mr Proudfoot second, and Mr Lyders third; Messrs Proudfoot and Speight's prizes by Messrs Greenslade and Gillan; Mr Speight's prize by Mr Tonkin, with Mr Montgomery second and Mr Greenslade third; Mr Montgomery's prize by Mr Proudfoot, with Mr Speight second; Mr Lyders's prize by Mr Baiiuermau, with Mr Geddes second and Mr Montgomery third; Mr M'CaJlum's prize by Mr How'.ett, Mr Montgomery leing second and Mr Lyders third; Mr Clark's prize by Mr Gillan, with Mr Montgomery second and Mr Speight third. The championship (Mr Moller's medal) was won by Mr Proudfoot, with Mr Montgomery second and Mr Speight third. Two team matches were fired during the seacon, our opponents on bo'h occasions being tho Duncdin City Guards and tho Kaitangata Rifles'. Tho first match was fired at Kaitangata on tho Bth October, the club beating the Kaitangata Rifles by 16 points and the Guards by 20 points. The second match was fired on tho Dunedin City Guards range on the 25th May, 1903, the club and tho Guards tieing, and beating tho Kaitangata Rifles by 43 points. As usual, the club was represented at tho New Zealand Defencc Forces Itifie Association and tho Otago Riflo Association meetings, Mr Speight coming in second and Mr Gillan third in the aggregate at tho latter meeting. Mr Gillan also represented tho club at the AYairaiapa Riflo Association, and was fourth in the aggregate. In conclusion, your committee lopes that the coming season may provo as Buccessful as tho one just past.

Tho klanco sheet presented showed a credit balance for the year of £11 18s 6d.— Tho report and balance shoot wore adopted. One new member was proposed and elected. Tho following office-bearers were elected for tho ensuing year:—President, Mr Shaw; vice-presidents—Messrs Grcenslade, Proudfoot, M'Callum, and Burns; captain, Mr Montgomery; deputy-captain, Mr Lyders; (secretary, Mr Proudfoot; treasurer, Mr Speight; committee —Messrs R. Greonslado, Harclio, and Gilian; delegate to Otago Rifle Association, Mr Proudfoot.

It was decided to open tho season on Saturday, 3rd OctobeT, with tho usual match President v. Vico-president. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Ml* Speight for providing accommodation for tho use of tho club, siind to the pross for publishing matters relative to tho doings of tho club throughout tho year. Tho meeting then closed.
