The flags on the Union Stenin Ship Company's vessels throughout Australia were half-masted out of respect to the late Mr E. B. GVgffl.
The- news of tho death of Mr E. B. Cnrgill, while not unexpected, was received 'with meat general sorrow throughout the city 'yesterday, ami flags were flying at ■half-must on nearly all tho principal buildings as a mark of respect to the old l pioneer so long and worthily associated with the history of' Ota'go. ,
