HIDE REPORTS.

Messrs Stronach Bros, and Morris report as follows:—We held our fortnightly auction salo of hides at our stores, Crawford street, on Thursday, lGth inst,, when there was presont a rather smaller attendance of buyers than usual. Competition was keen, however, and nnder spirited bidding we sold all except two hides, tlieso -not reaching our ideas .of value. Light and medium weight hides may be quoted, say, jd to Jd lower than values a fortnight ago, and prime heavy hides on a par with last quotntiora Our catalogue comprised 21C, and included in it were several lines of splendidly flayed hides, which sold remarkably well, and averaged a good return. One line of seven hides from a client averaged J>l 13s 3d each, and another, the weights of which ran from 54 to 701b, averaged £1 12s a-piece. These are good paying prices, and should prove highly satisfactory to vendors. Actual prices paid at our sale were ns follows:—Prime heavy ox hides, Gsd to 7d per lb; medium, do, 4Jd to Old; light and inferior do, 3Jd to 4jd; prime heavy cow hides, 5d to 6Jd; medium do, 4d to 4Jd; light and inferior do, 3d to 3jd; yearlings, 4s to 4s 8d; calf skins, Is Gd to 2s 7d.
