CHRISTCHURCH, April 15. Tho evidence of the children at the adjourned inquest on Walter Robson was rathor contradictory. It was elated yesterday that the railway coupling bars on which deceased had been sitting wore taut, and that ho was resting ono leg on one of tho chains, and that a jerk of tho train had caused him to fall. It was affirmed to-day that tho couplings wore 6lack, as usual, and that the buffers wero normal. One boy said there nad been no jolt sufficient to cause tho accident. The jury found that deceased had been killed by accident on tho Lyttelton-Cliristcliuroh train, and they considered there was somo negligence shown in allowing 12 or 13 mere children to romain on tho platform. They also considered some blame rested with one of the three guards, but were unable to determine which.
