BOWLING.
<9- ——— 1 LADIES' PROGRESSIVE MATCH. Tho Milton Club arranged a progressive game for their lady friends on Wednesday afternoon, when a very enjoyable time was spent. The weather was fine and the green in capital order. Tho day was full of interest, especially to the male sex. who keenly followed the play from start to finish; why, it is hard to say, but it came as a surpriso to them to find how well the ladies could play the bowls, and with a hotter knowledge of the " bias " and more confidence in themselves, there is no doubt really good players would develop from the ranks of the fair sex. The game was one of five rounds, at- the conclusion of which it was found that Miss E. Bryco had succccded in winning every round, and was followed very closely by Mrs J. C. Small. Miss K. Grant, Hiss L. M'William, and Miss M'lntosh, with four wins cach. Out of the 16 ladies taking part, one had the bad luck not to win one round, and took the humble position of "booby." Tho vice-president (Mr M. W. Fleming) thanked tho ladies for their attendance, and presented Miss Brycc with two pairs of gloves, and the seconds with one pair cach. Tho bachelors of the club shone out prominently in their efforts to guess the size of glove the ladies required, and the event, was the cause of much laughter. Messrs W. Walker and J. Parlane generously donated the prizes. Afteruoon--tea arrangements were in charge of the gentlemen, and they managed right well. There was a sound of revelry by day in the old pavilion, as the club honoured their friends with their well-known musical ditty about good fellowship.—Own correspondent.
