CAVERSHAM LICENSING COMMITTEE.
Tho quarterly meeting of the Caversliam Licensing Committee, hold yesterday, was attended by Mr C. C. Graham, S.M. (chair--1 man), and Messrs W. Cuttle, T. Fiddis, R. Wilson, and R. Young. Mr D. Findlay appeared in support of an application by Georgo Searle for the transfer to him of tho license of' tho Waterloo Hotel, now held by John Ryan. The police report was favourable, and tho application, which was unopposed, was granted. A conditional license* was also granted for tho forthcoming athletic championship meetiug. Mr T. Fiddis. after the ordinary business was over, made tho following remarks:— " I honestly believe, Mr Graham, and I wish to say so before we part, that you have dono your work :is chairman capably and fflithi fully during tho time wo liavo been together. | We have all got on harmoniously, and evory- ; tiling has been smooth throughout the dis- < trict. Tho hotels, too, have been woll conduoled. One or two of tlicm have endorsements on their licenses, but that is a matter . for the new committee to deal with. X hope • I shall bo returned again. If I am, they that break (he law will have-to toe the mark, but I think that a man who pays tho £'40 lias a right to bo protected if ho keeps tho law. That's my view. I hope, Mr (Jralmm, that wo shall Jiavo tho plcmsure of shaking hands with you again at the beginning ot another three years." ' Mr Graham shortly acknowledged tho oomplimcnt embodied in Mr Fiddis's remarks.
