UNION FOOTBALL CLUB.

Tho following report will be submitted at the ilnftial meeting oi the Union Football Club to ba held on Friday, March 13, 1303: — In presenting tho thirty-first annual report, J«t committee are pleased to congratulatemembers on tho continued prosperity ot the club sad the prospects for the coining season 1 'The membership .roll, although not as large »s last season, is very satisfactory, there being 181 members. Finance.—The- credit balance in hand, considering tbe heavy calls made on our finances during the season, is extremely satisfactory Matches.—Tho First ITifteeU competing in senior flag contest played 12 matches, of wliich one was won and 11 lost—26 points foi and 112 agamst. Matches were also played against the Luroood and Oamaru Clubß A Christchurch and Dunedin respectively, the Union losingiths former and winning thi later. The Second Fifteen were considerably handicapped during the season through the demands made on their members k. fill vacancies in the First Fifteen. In all 11 matches wefo played, of which i were won, 2 drawn, »ntl 5 lost—points for, 20; against, 92. Membership.—it is with regret that we report the death of one'of our most prominent players—the late James Adam—who succumbed • after a Bhort illness. A beiiefit was organised by the 0.R.F.U., with whom your club .cooperated, and the sum of f 100 to nanded over to Mrs Adam. It is with pleasure that we welcbme the return of four of our members from the war, and we will be glad to see them in our ranks again this season. Interprovincial—The club was represented during the season in interprovincial matches by W. J. Munro, and in matches against Gbldfieldß teams by Messrs D» M. Munro and C. George. Presentations.-Tht. caps presented by Df Batchelor (ou . worthy president) have been awarded t; Messrs C. George, J. Mackenzie, and H. Green. General.—A hall for training purposed was engaged during the season, but was maiily attended by the younger members of the club. Bitting the season a very successful musical free-and-easy was held, there being a large attendance of members, and the cbmmittee re--: cotrimend that the good fellowship engendered by these socials should not be lost sight of: by members. At Easter we look forward to otir annual match with the Linwood Cltib, which will be played in Dunedin, and it behoves members to make an early start to train in view of this fixture. I'he annual niatch' with the Oamaru Club will be played on June 3 this year, the game taking place at Oamaru. Our best thdnks aro due to Dr Batchelor for his handsome donation of caps, to the Referees' Association for the efficient services of • members at first, second, and third matches during the season; to Messrs Wynn and Hope and J. Cuminings for the continued use of their premises for committee meetings and dressing rooms respectively; and to the press for the publicity they have given to the affairs of the club and to football in general. ■In conclusion, your committee wish the club every aucoesi during the coming season, and trust that the past good feeling among membets may long continue.
