THE NEWTOWN LOCAL OPTION POLL.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 4. A largely-attended indignation meeting was held at Newtown last evening. Resolutions were passed condemnatory of tho decision which resulted in the voiding of the Newtown local option poll, and urging tho necessity /or an alteration of the law. A deputation from the New Zealand Allitmco Jo-day waited on the Acting-Colonial Secretary, and urged that, the returning ofilcc-r for Newtown ».t the recent local option poll bo not appointed returning officer at the coming Licensing Committee clrction. Tho Minister promised to consuit the Colonial Secretary.
