ANNUAL SW ZEALAND CONFERENCE. (Fkoji Oor Special Reporter.) ' CHRISTCHUECH, March S. The Methodist conference resumed in ministerial session this morning:, the president (the Rov. .T. A. Luxford) in tlio chair. The whole of the morning was occupied by the Stationing Committee in preparing the second draft of stations, when, after adoption in conference the following changes were made on the present appointments:— Auckland District. —Freemau'd Bay, Hugh Beggs; Grafton road (2), 0. Scotter; Goro, 11. L. Blamircs. The conference. met im the afternoon in representative session. The Rov. 0. H. Garland and Mr J. T. Smith wera appointed to reply to the deputation from ilio Presbyterian Church ro union. The reports of the treasurer, governor, and head master with regard to work done at the Theological and Training Institution wero read and adopted. Five students were in college, and all had done satisfactory work, three of them taking university work. Tlio balance showed a small credit balance. Tlio balance sheet of Wesley College, Threo Kings, was adopted, and the report of the principal was read. It reviewed the work done during the year, and laid stress on the necessity for new buildings aiul additional funds in order that the good work being done among the native boys might bo extended! The bnys were not only given freo education, lodging and board, but were in many cases clothed as well. Only 30 boys could be received, and many mora wore anxious to enter the college. A high tribute was paid to tlio good work done by the Rev. J. 11. Simmondii as principal of tho college, and he was reappointed. It was pointed out that a strong effort should bo mado to obtaim additional funds, and that if new buildings could be erected necessitating an outlay of about £2000, thfe number of pupils could be doubled. A member of the Church at Auckland oiforcd to subscribe 10s for every pound up to £500 that was raised. It was resolved that special collections be taken im every church and preach-ing-place throughout the colony on a Sunday ill May. The conference then went into committee to ccmsidor the report of the principal and Board of Governors of Prince Albert College. The debate on this question was adjourned till to-morrow morning. The third and final draft of stations will be read on Friday afternoon. A social function in tho form of a conversazione was held this evening in the Canterbury Hall and tho smallor halls attaohed, which were crowded to excess. Tho president (Rev. J. A. Luxford) was in tlio chair. _ Addresses were given by tho Rov. Georg'b Bond (Wellington) and Mr George Bassott (Wanganui). Tho principal portion of the time was devoted to social chat to allow the representatives attending tho conference to meet their Christchiirch friends. The gathering was a very fine one indeed.
