A PRACTICAL FEDERAL BOND. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SIDNEY, March 3. (Received Mfu'ch 3, at 11.10 a.m.) Tiie Daily Telegraph, commenting on Sir J. G. Ward's suggestion that Australia. and New Zealand band together to prevent the forcing down of stocks, says that- Sir J. G. Ward, however unconsciously, affirms a practical Federal relationship, ;;nd admits an interdependence which certainly is not to he inferred from New Zealand's general political attitude towards federation. That New Zealand would he affected by Australian financial conditions could have been predicted at any time. This is what has happened. When Australian credit was good, so was that of New Zealand; now that it is bad, New Zealand finds itself within the sphere of frost, ENTERTAINED AT uuaUHEON. MELBOURNE, March 3. (Received March 3, at 1.34 p.m.) • Sir J. G. Ward was entertained at luncheon by Sir E. Barton (l'cdoral Premier), the Victorian Premier, the Lord Mayor, and a representative gathering beiug present. The Australian Club also entertained Sir Joseph at dinner, when representatives of all the steamship services were present. His health was cordially proposed.
