CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Championship Committee met on Monday night, and further details in connection with the meeting were brought forward airi'discussed. The Secretary reported that in all probability there would be three entrios from Christchureh :■ for the motor race, two from Invercargill, and two from Duiiedin. This means that a very interesting and novel contest should eventuate,. and if.'Martin enters his motor as well the race should prove an eye-oponer to tho public regarding the tremendous pace to bo obtained from these machines. It was resolved that tho motor Tace be held not later than half-past 3 on 1 the day in order to enable everyone to see it. Efforts are being made to secure the most notable, riders in the colony to compete in the Championships, and also to get the amateur athletic champions to appear in the flat events, It was resolved that a Dunedin band only be engaged to play at the meeting. Details in connection with the programme were loft in the hands of a sub-committoe, and it was decided to readjust the list of officials at the next meeting. The appointment of gatomen'was left im the hands of the secretary, and a committee appointed to ascertain as to the best means of entertaining visiting wheelmen. Great enthusiasm was displayed, Bind if satisfactory entries camo forward a really splendid meeting should follow. The Ticket 'Committee's recommendation that tickets be left for sale at tho promi : nent tobacconists was confirmed, and a vote of thanks to : tho chairman concluded the meeting. , -l
