The secretary of tho Lawrence Company reports aTcturn of 60oz 3dwt for last week's work. This is the record return.from tho dredges in the Tnapoka district. The Champion Gold Mining Company obtained from the hydraulic sluicing claim, for four days' actual elevating/ , 1007, 9dwt gold. Tho Champion dredge obtained 7oz lldwt of gold for last week's work. The secretary of. the Island Elock Company reports that tho return from the dredge last week was 350z 16dwt. . The tributers obtained 58oz 15dwt for a week's eluicing. . Mr Laurence'Ryan, Alexandra, reports that tho Perseverance No. 1 dredge obtained 230z lldwt 7gr of gold last week. The No. 2 dredge started work again on Sunday night. The secretary of the Alexandra Bonanza, Gold Dredging and Sluicing Company reports a return of 420z 6dwt for four weeks' sluicing on bottom material. The secretary of the Callaghan's Creek Company reports that there -was no wash-up last week, the dredge being troubled with timber and silt. The secretary of tho Aldinga Gold Dredging Company reports a Tcturn of 15oz 14dwt for 117 hours' work. The dredge was idle for 13 hours last week while the screen was being riveted. Tko return from the Waikaka, United No. 2 dredge'last week was 250z fidwt amalgam for three days' work. Tho dredgemaster of the Cromwell No. 2 dredge wires that the machinery is running well, but that there is a lot of silt in the paddock. The directors of the Mokoia Gold Dredging Company havo declared a dividend (the first) of Is per share on the ordinary shares and Is 3d per share on the preference issue. Both dividends are payable on Monday next, 9th inst. The dredgemaster of the Three-mile (Greonstono Ctcoli) drotlgo wires that ho had considerable trouble in removing; and replacing tho crown wheel, Ho started dredging again on Saturday afternoon, and consequently did not vrash up last wcelc. Ho has now worked up to tho boundary at the west side of the claim. There is iv great deal of blue pug to contend with, but, as tho returns show, it carries good gold. Tho Dobson Syndicate dredgo obtained 15oz for tho week ended February 21. She was working towards tho Taylorville side on the old Grey Extended ground, and the prospects beforo her look very encouraging. The bulwarks of the pontoon were renewed recently by Mr Sweetman. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Tho shnre market was exceptionally sluggish yesterday, and only one parcel of shares changed lmnds during tho day. The demand for shares was scarcely as good as usual, and consequently thero was, in .most cases, a fairly wide margin between buyers and sellers. The river lms commenced io fall again, tho height at Alexandra yesterday morning being Oft above the normal mnrk. "This will probably get the drift running for a while, and the returns for the next week or two may be somewhat affected. Tho margin between buyers nnd sellers of Alexandra Leads was greater than on Saturday, the quotations being 14s Cd and 15s 9d. Davis's Bends wore a shade easier, but Endeavours were inclined to harden. Fcdckiscns and First Chances were steady, whilo Golden Rivers receded a little, a sale taking place at 2s 6d, with further sellers at 2s 9d but no buyers. Golden Runs were very firm, and Mokoias were unaltered. New Bendipoes moved up, buyers offering 5s !kl p., but still none were to be had. North Beaches were again inquired for, after a short period of obscurity, but there wore no sellers. Pactolus shares were very steady, as also were Prince of Wales' and Reevcs's Proprietaries. Rise and Shines have sincp Saturday, and Unitys were again in evidence, buyers offering 15s Cd, and sellers closing at 13a 6d. A sale of Golden River shares was made yesterday at 2s Od.
