J Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited), Duncdin, | report:—We held our usual weekly auction ?alo of grain and product l fit our stores on Mollday, when wo submitted a full catalogue, comprising oats, wheat, bavloy. chaff, straw, etc. There was a gocd attendance ml a good demand for ail lines, with the exception of medium chaff, and tho bulk of our catalognn was clcarcd at satisfactory prices. Prices ruled R3 under:— Oats.—Thero lias been a fair demand for good feed lines for local consumption at reduced .nrices, also for prime lines for milling purposes. In view of the new oats offering at cheap • .rices, delivered in Dnncdin, business, however, is of a hnnd-fo-monUi character, and slock* of old cats are difficult to reduce. Shippers coutinue to fulfil their orders from tlio north, as until the new oats arrive we cannot compete with Canterbury. Wo quote: Prime milling, 2s to 2s 2d; good to best- feed, Is 9d to 2s; interior to medium, Is 6d to Is 9d per bushel (sucks extra}. Wheat.—Primo milling is at present neglected by millers. Several samples of now wheat liavo been offered from Oaraaru district, Tlio wheat is sound mid of good quality, but owners' ideas at present are ahead- of millers 1 values. Tho only demand is for good whole fowl wheat-, and gooci business has been done lately at quotations. We quoie: Primo milling velvet, 4a 9d to 5s 3d (nomiual); medium and other sorts, 4s 3d to 4s Sd; whole fowl wheat, 4s to 4s 2d; broken and damaged, 3s to 3a fld per bushel. Potatoes.—The market i 3 well supplied, and consignments are offering freely at from £3 to £3 5s for prime kidneys. Chp.ff.—The market is fully supplied with inferior and medium lines, and this quality is in fair demand, pud- stocks at this time of tho year are extremely difficult to quit. Prime bright lines arc a. little more plentiful, but consignments arriving meet with a fairly ready sale. New season's chaff from tho north is heavy and bright in colour, and is now arriving, ' and this tends to weaken tho market. Buyers are now only operating from baud to mouth, anticipating a further drop in prices. We quote: Prima oat sheaf, f-i to J!4 ss; choico lines, £1 7s Gd; medium to good, £3 10s to £4; inferior and straw chaff, £'3 to £3, per ton. Straw.—During the past week consignments have come forward freely, and the market is in over-supply at present. We quote from 30s to 33s ex truck. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. Prime milling oats sold at 2s to 2s 2d; good .to best feed, Is Qc*# "to 2s; inferior and medium, Is Gd to Is 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—Almost the only sales recorded during the past week havo been in fowl wheat qualities. Milling sorts have little inquiry, but fowl wheat continues to meet with fair demand at priccs on a par with late values. Chaff.—The market is fully supplied with nearly all classes, and as buyers are only pur- ; chasing for immediate requirements, in tho expectation that lowor values will thlo shortly, late quotations are barely maintained, and in order to effect a clearance ex truck lower priccs havo to be accepted. We quote: Beßt oa-ten * sheaf, to £4 6s; extra heavy and choice, to U 10s; medium to good, .€3 fis to £3 1.55; inferior and straw chaff, .€2 to £2 Hss per ton , (bogs extra).
