ROXBURGH CYCLING CLUB.

'The annual sports in connection with; the ' above cltib were held on the local Recreation Ground on New Year's. Day. The weather; which had.been very threatening/held rip, and : fho-day was wonderfully fine. There was'con sequently. a large attendance, and the various events being well contested.an excellent day's ■ 'sports were provided. -The track was in capita) order for .racing. The back-markers (J. As the limit was exceeded, it was decided to run tho event over again, when only two ridsrs went out, with the following result:—W. M'Keich 1, J. Michcllb 260 yds, John O'Brien 2Goyds. The limit men were soon caught by the middle crowd, and Wilson and D. Cahill gave a fine exhibition of riding. The effort proved too much for Cahill, who was beaten all out by Symona for second place. In tho evening the usual concert was held, and was a marked success. Those who took part in fhe, programiho were Mrs Rankin (Invercargill), Misses Gilchrist (Jnvtrcargill), Whiting, and Dolly Stringer, Messrs T. M'Donald (Lawrence), G. Cormack, F. Laloli, E. Collins, W. Houghton, W. Eadie, and F. M'Donald. A farce, " The Lazy Apprentice," an which Mr F. O'Brien, sustained the part of the apprentice, followed. During an interval in the proceedings Mr J. Tamblyn (srcTetory of the Cycling Club) in a few words thanked the audience for their kind patronage, and assured them it was very gratifying to the club officials to know that their efforts to provide sports, etc., were appreciated by tho people. A dance followed, which was well attended, and proved very enjoyable. Excellent music was supplied by Miss Ba'llic (piano), Mr D. Cormack (violin), and Mr P. R/:edeT (piccolo).
