OBITUARY.
There passed to his long rest on Saturday morning one of Tokomairiro's oldest, settlers, in the person of Mr William Dunn, of Riversdale Farm. Mr Dunn (writes our Milton correspondent) was a native of Kirkcudbright, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, where he was born in .the year 1830, so 1 that he was 72 years old at the time of his death. He was the youngest and only surviving member of a family of eight.' Arriving in New Zealand in the ship Siiistra in 1860, for five years Mr Dunn held tracts of land in the Dunstan district. Here it might be mentioned that he. ran across the prospectors of the famous Hartley and Riley claim having their first wash-up, and for his pains was very nearly shot. In 1865 he removed to Riversdale, purchasing the property from the late Mr J. L. Gillies, and has resided there ever since. He. leaves a widow (whom he married before leaving the goldfields) and a family consisting of three daughters (Mrs John Miller, Mrs D. Drinnan. and Mrs Lane) and three sons. Although the late Mr Dunn had passed man's allotted span, he was hale and hearty, and an active manager of the farm almost till his death. About a month ago ho had a serious illness, hut recovered, and again took up his dailv round. However. suffering a relapse, the end came rather unexpectedly on Saturday. The funeral takes place on Tuesday.
