HIDE MARKET.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale on IFriday forenoon, when wo submitted a good catalogue, including several lots of town butchers' hides and a number of country consignments. Bidding was animated for selected ox and cow hides of good substance, but for ''slieely," "flabby,' and light hides competition was slacker, and prices for all classes, excepting the very brst, were easier. At the auction sale and privately we sold 15G hides, and withdrew three parcelf-in all about all hides—upon which vendors' reserves exceeded purchasers' ideas of value by about a halfpenny per lb. We consider priccs ruling here at present are higher than in any other of the colonial Inarkets, and that this is s.o is evidenced by the fact that Australian tanners are importing supplies from European centres.
