May 12. Harvest thanksgiving services wero hold in the Presbyterian Church yesterday, the minister (the Rev. J. J. Cairney) ably setting forth the lessons to be learned from* harvest time. At St. John's Church, at night, the Jlev. C. A. Fraer gave tho third of his special addresses this 0110 dealing with education. Ho emphasised the necessity of definite religious instruction being given in the public schools by accredited teachers of tho different denominations, after the plan adopted in the New South Wales schools. A meeting of the Choral Society was held in tho Library on Thursday evening, Mr Davis presiding. The secretary (Mr Kelly) read the annual report find balance sheet, showing a. credit of £2 15s 4d.
