PRESKNTATION TO MR CARNCROSS, M.H.R.
A largo number of friends met yesterday afternoon in tho Provincial Hotel to bid farewell to Mr Ccrncross, M.H.K., who is leaving Otago for tho Taranalri district, The gathering was composed of momlwrs of various bodies, including sporting friends of the gentleman. Mr J. A. Millar, M.H.R., who was voted to the chair, spoke of the able and generous manner in which Mr Carncrosa had always fulfilled his duties, both as a public man and also in the capacity of secretary of the Taiori Racing Club. On behalf of those, present, Mr Millar then handed to Mr Camcross a pair of handsome field-glasses as a token of rfsnect and esteem. Tho recipient suitably responded. Mr A. Thomson referred to Mr Carncross in a few kindly words, after which his health was .drunk with musical honours. Thoss present having personally wished Mr Cnmcr.oss.go9d luck and good-bye, tlie meeting dispersed.
