THE COUNTIES CONFERENCE.

The Counties' Conference, amongst other 1 amendments lo the bill, this morning ngreeil that power be taken to compel owners of laml to have the husli" felled within a chain of the boundaries of roads, where it involves danger lo the road or lo tiie travelling public. The proposal to strike out the provision for toll gales on roads was negatived, but- funeral processions were exempted from tolls. Piggeries are not included in the list of general nuisances. It was further decided that counties be given the same powers as boroughs in regard to nuisances. The conference look up the discussion of Ihe by-law relating to heavy traffic on county roads. It. was resolved that the Revising Committee be instructed to incorporate in clause 332 the provisions of the Public Works Act relating to heavy traffic, computation of weights, etc., that are oniitled from Hie present bill. In subsection 3, clause 335, the license fee for jiiiwkev or pedlnr wus permitted to be as high as £5. A committee was asked lo ascertain whether there is prorvisinn made for the purchase of land for cemetcry purposes. The whole of the schedules in the new bill were referred to a committee to alter in accordance with the lesolutions which have been passed.
