THE SUICIDE AT STIRLNG.
John Halligan, aged iU>out 25 years, in the 1 employ of .Mr Darcy Ford, drapery salesman, committed suicide at Stirling on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock by throwing himself oa tlio railway lino between the trucks of a goods train. The wlicclb passed over the unfortunate man's head and neck, and death, was, of course, instantaneous. ' Particulars of tlio suicide at Stirling;-on Friday of John Halligan, about 24 years of age,, show that dcrca=ed and a companion had just arrived from Ivaitangata. by coach, intending to catch the afternoon express to Dimcdin, and deceased was walking along the platform. A goods train coming in was flowing down, when Halligan deliberately stepped olf the platform and throw himscif on the metal between (he trucks. Two o£ th:i trucks passed over his chest an 9 neck, and worn derailed. Tlio body was taken to Up Stirling Hotel to await an inquest. Deceased's companion states that Halligan had been drinking lately, but had not tasted that day. He had been melancholy all day. He was a native of Victoria, and had beoti employed as an auctioneer's assistant in the CQtmtry towns on behalf of Mr Dnroy Ford.
