INQUEST.
An inquest was held yesterday afternoon at the Bowling Green Hotel on the body of Tlios. Thompson, who wis found dead in his house in ;i lane off Cumberland street on Sunday night. Mr C. C. Graham, coroner, held the inquiry, and Mr Walter Smith was chosen [oreman of the jury. . The evidenco.went to show that the deceased, who was 68 years of aye, had been living alone, and.that, with tho exception of u sister, who died some time ago, lie iiail never had any relatives in the colony. He was in comfortable circumstances, deposit receipts for a considerable enni being found in his possession. He was a single man, and of steady imd sober habits. As far as is known he enjoyed good health. ]Io was missed about the place on Sunday, nnd the police, on heiiii, , comnmnicated with, visited the house and burst open the door, which mis looked from the inside. The deceased \va? found lying on the floor, partly undresEcd. He hud evidently b;e;i dead some hours. The medical evidence went to show thnt there were no suspicious circumstances in the ease, and thai death was due (o some natural cause, probably heart disease or The jury relumed a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
