AUCKLAND, May 6. Harry Mattocks, groom to Mr Lewis, Tauranga, was knocked down while attempting to stop a restive horse. Ho was attended to and returned to his work. The next morning, however, he wns. found in the middle .of a paddock unconscious, and died in a few hours. Tho medical certificate stated that death was duo to compression on tin; brain. William Nicholas Pcannan, aged 48 years, a gold miner at Ilindou, died after a short illness on Sunday at noon. The man's precarious state was recognised before ho died, and Dr I'ctors was Edit for, but arrived too late. The. doctor is of opinion that deceased died from olwtructioit of tho bowols. Ho had lived for the last 20 years at Ilindon, and ho had no known relations in the colony. Alexander Lyon, aged 50, a ship's carpenter, died at Mansford Town yesterday morning from injuries to his spino, caused by a , fall aboard tho Warrimoo on the 22ml ull. The coroner has been informed.
