THE SYDENHAM DISASTER.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, May 6. (Received May 6, at 11.8 p.m.) The inquest on Damlcy, one of the victims o£ the Sydenham railway accident on February 15, was resumed to-day. Doyle, the driver of the* derailed engine, lias recovered sulGc'iently to attend. His evidence threw no light on the cause. He considered the engine and line both in ffiui order. Ho was drivinj,' at the usual speed. Ue could assign no reason for the disaster. The jury found that deceased died from injuries accidentally received: lliiil the derailment of the train was caused by the high rate of speed and the defective characteristics of the engine, but whether the condition of the road added to the derailment there was not sufficient evidence U> show. The jury added iv rider recommending Unit the ,- F" class of engine slinuld not he used for pafjcnger service, excepting for slow trains, and that they Ik Kimivttl from the service «,i sowi as practicable.
