POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Duncdin, subject to any necessary alterations, as under: — Overland, North, daily, 10.20 a.m. Late letters, 10.45; also on tho mail van up to 11 a.m. Books and newspapers, 10 a.m. Late-fee letters must beaT, in addition lo the ordinary postage—ld for inland letters, 2d for letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands, and 21d for foreign countries. MONDAY, APRIL 1. For Lyttelton and Christchureh, per Whangape, at 1 p.m. TUESDAY, APRIL 2. For Northern Ports, per Mararoa, at 2 p.m. For Australian Colonies (via Ilobarl), India, China, Straits Settlements, South _ Africa. Mauritius, Mediterranean Ports, Continent of Europe, United Kingdom, etc., per smith train, lo connect with the Waihora at the Bluff at 8 a.m. Due in London May 12. Registered letters at 5 p.m. on the Ist, and moiiey orders at 4 p.m. on the Ist. Parcels for Australia close at ." p.m. on the Ist. Correspondence for the United Kingdom to be specially addressed, via Melbourne. GOOD FRIDAY. Good Friday will be observed as a close liolidav. Ail mails usually despatched on that date will be closed at 8 p.m. on Thursday, 4th April. On Easter Monday the usual despatch of mails will be made up to 10 a.m. The office will be open from oto 10 a.m. only. There will be no delivery by letter carriers, but correspondence will be delivered over the counter up to 10 a.m. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10. SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SERVICE. Parcels for United Slates and Canada will close at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 9th. Mails for Natal and Capetown, per Warrigal, from Sydney, on the Ist April. Mails for Nine Islands will close at Auckland on the 2nd April nl II p.m. Mails for the United Kingdom and Continent of Europe specially addressed, per Karamea. via Monte Video, will close at Auckland on the 3rd at 11 a.m. For Natal and Capetown, from Melbourne, per Afrie. Samoa, and Fiji close at Auckland on the'lOth-April at 4 p.m. Note.—The postage on letters to Australia will remain at twopence, letters prepaid one penny wi'l he stircharprl'd. The public arc cautioned against enclosing insets in newspapers. The nennv postage is now also extended to Italy, Egvpt. Portugal, Costa Rica, Mexico, Switzerland, Chili, Nicaragua, Peru, and Paraguay. .
