INFLUENCE OF JURIES.
TO THE EDITOE. Stb,—l have at times heard suggestions as to the advisability of abolishing the jury system, since instead of carrying out the part they are supposed to take in repressing vice, juries not infrequently use thoir influenco to encourage it, The best argument I have yet seen in support of this view is set forth in today's issue of the Times, in the report of an inquest on a deceased child, where, in face, of the doctor's evidence that the child had died through neglect and starvation, the jury returned a verdict that the death was dun *o natural causes, and nn blame was attachable to anyone! —I am, etc, Reform.
