LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday, and was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr D. Barron), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick.

P. A. Connolly wrote re mining reserve adjoining section 12, block VI, Town of Hyde.— Referred to ranger for report. James Bolton wrote re sections in blooks LIII and LIV, town of Hampden, recently held by him under temporary license.—Received.

The Official Assignee wrote re tho valuation allowed for improvements on section on Pomahaka estate, recently held by Thomas Chapman.—To be informed there would be a balance available from valuation of improvements. ' -

Bangor Atkinson reported on application W. M'Aughtrie to have section 2, block V, town of Kurow, offered for Bale.—To be offered at next sale at upset of £5 per quarter acre!

Ranger Atkinson reported on application by John Robertson for license to occupy portion of frontage on Waitaki River, opposite his freehold, part of section 5, block I, Kurow, to give access to water, and for tree-planting.— Temporary license granted at 2s Od per annum.

Tho following applications were granted: — For rural land on occupation with right of purchase, section 7, block VI, Woodland; J. Martin, section 10, block 111,. Catlins, J. W. Tapp. For land on lease in perpetuity, sections 27 and 28, blook XIV, Rimu, .Robert Hunter. For license to occupy part of town belt, adjoining section 1, block I, town of Clyde, W. J,' Holt. To have the title over 0 acres purchased by him at the head of Milford Sound issued in the namo of his wife (Elizabeth Sutherland), Donald Sutherland.

J, W. Abernethy applied to surrender lease in perpetuity over section 44, block VI, Glenomaru.—Accepted; ranger to value improvements. '

H. A. Bullock applied to trans'fer to Peter Jackson allotment, Ga, Edendale estate.—Mr Jackson to be requested to appear before the board.

Robert Johnston applied to transfer to John Johnston allotment 102, Maerewhenua estate.— Declined, section having been forfeited; to be reopened, range. - to make valuation for improvements.

Charles Kerr, on behalf of the Waipori Commonage Committee, applied for license to occupy part of commonage in Tuapeka. East adjoining tho western boundary of Waipori district and south-east of 'Waipori town.—Ranger to report.

_ M. A. Indor and W, Grinsberg wrote requesting that their residence area sites in the town of Naseby bo surveyed and offered for sale.— District-surveyor Calder to report. The Surveyor-general wrote intimating that surrender of s. g. run lease, held by S. J. German over sections 4 and 6, block IX, Kuriwao, had been accepted as from the 28th inst.—Accepted; sections 2, 3, 4, and 5; to be grouped and offered as a s. g. run at a rental of 4d per acre, with valuation lor improvements, £43i 14s 6d.

Mrs E. Winn wrote asking the board to reconsider its deoision re application to transfer sections' 37, 62, 37a, and 37b, block VII, Maerewhenua-Takorahi estate, from J. H. Millar to herself.—Transfer to be held over until arrangements suggested in her-letter are carried out, when the board will again deal'with the matter. Daniel Perkins applied to transfer to C. F,. Watkins section 14, Barnego settlement.—Recommended for Minister's approval. The Receiver of Land Revenue was authorised to pay over the amounts received as valuation for improvements on sections 3 and 24a, Maerewhenua estate—^s5 —]oas £9 13s sd, arrears of rents, 11 10s. costs of re-entry, and 8s 4d to Oamaru Harbour Board as rates due. Mrs E. Muir wroto re section 1, block X, Waihenio, recently held by her as a smallgrazing run.—To bo ro-offored at 8d per acre, burdened with valuation for improvements; Mrs Muir to be required to pay 2j years' rent at above rental. Thomas Chalmer, on behalf of Thomas Spain, applied to withdraw application for renewal of yearly license to occupy sections 9, 10, 20, and 21, block 111, Poolbuni,' and requested to be allowed a refund rent and license fee paid by him.—Refund of rent declined. William Kennedy applied for small-grazing run, section 2, block I, and section 1, block 111, Sutton.—Granted, subject to payment of Valuation. It was resolved that the area of Keenan's paddock, St. Bathans, be reduced to 32 acres.— This allowance to bo made on account of channel passing through'the'ground. The board decided to allow valuation for improvements on run 17a, the valuation of fencing on east side to' be added to that already advertised. Runs 354 and 428 were forfeited as notified in Government • Gazette of 19th 'November last. Ranger to report as to valuation for improvements and proposed rental.
