DUNEDIN CITY MISSION.
The committee of this local agency met in the board room of the Bible Depot on Tuesday, when the following members were present : —Messrs G. M. Thomson (president), Geo. Eeid, Dimiel Smith, E" Rosevear, Alexander Haig, John A. I). Adams, W. Hutchison, and Duncan Wright..
The hon. treasurer (Mr Rosevear) reported the undermentioned donations, etc.:—Mrs S., ss; a fiieud, £a ss; Mr 8., £1; Mr R., ss; a lady,. 10s; widow's mile, ss; Russeil street box for December, £1 2s 6d, and for January, 10s Gd. . For the poor, £1 from '' Inasmuch." As there is. no collector for the City Mission the committee will be glad if all offerings are sent to the hon. treasurer at the Bible Depot, Princes street. It was arranged that the sixth annual meeting bs held in the Y.V.C A. Hall on Monday, March 4, to receive reports and eleot-a committee for the year. Mr Peter Barr will be asked to audit the balance sheet. All details left in the hands of a subcommittee consisting of the president, hou. treasurer, and secretary.
The president was authorised to send a letter of sympathy to Mr Hutchison in connection with his recent bereavement.
So soon as ho returned to tow.n the missionary called upon some of his old 3ick friends, and others will be, seen soon. During his absence the services at Ru3seil street wore successfully carried on by Mrs Don, Mr Aslin, Mr Vivian, and othei'3. The missionary had assisted in eervices at Knox Church, Southland, and Stewart Island. For the second time a lady helper in tne country had sect R box of nice usofnl garments for distribution amongst the poor. The necessary outlay for advertising, eto., having already bsen offered to the missionary he hopes when arrangements can be made to have special services for young people and children in the city and suburbs. For the sixth year classes for reading the Bible in State schools will be resumed as under:—Monday 18, High street; Tuesday 19, Union street; Wqdnc3day 20, Albany street; Thursday 21, George street; Friday 22, Arthur street. The hearty co-operation of school committees, teachers, scholars, and parents is earnestly solicited. The committee and the missionary enter upon this year's work full of hope.
