MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hand »ud Heart Lodge, M.U., was held on January 30. N.G. Bio. H. J. Johnston presided. The lodgeroom was draped in black, and after the correspondence had been read the meeting was adjourned out of'respect to her late Majesty Queen Victoria. N.G. Bro. Sherwood (Mataura Falls Lodge) and D.P.G.M. Bro. Cable (Prince of Wales Lpdge) responded to the second toast, and D.P.G.M. Bro. Cable, P.C.S. Bro. J. A. Hoporaft, and P.T. Bro. J. Robin responded to the third toast on belialf of the district officers. Receipts £41 19s 2d. ' The usual fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Albion Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday. N.G. Bro. J. Jones presided. After the correspondence had' been read, the following resolution was carried, the members reverently standing—'" That, in itjverence to the memory of our Into and noble ■Queen the lodge adjourn till this night'fortnight." ' The regular fortnightly meeting of Pioueer Lodge, 1.0.0.1'., was held on Tuesday evening iu the Oddfellows' Hall, Rattray street N.G. Bro. G. Phillips presided. After passing, sick claims, etc., the N.G. called the lodge up, rind the following resolution was passed: — " That in reverence to tho memory of her late Majesty the Queen this lodge do now adjourn for a! fortnight." The lodgeroom was draped in black. ' Crystal Spring Juvenile Temple held their ■weekly meeting last Saturday evening in the Lower Choral Hull.. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. C.T, Sis. Robinson presided. One candidate was duly initiated, and the officers for the new quarter were duly elected. A recitation competition having been held at the previous meeting, Bro. J. M. Innes was present, and presented the prizes to thesuccessful competitors as follows:—Sis. Annie Tjrson firat prize (pair of glass ornaments); Sis.' Stewart second (email pair of glass ornaments); Sis. Ruby Henderson third (pair of glass jugs);' Sis'. Lizzie Faithfull fourth (small pair glass jugs). Special prizes were awarded to Sis. Cooper and Sis. Charnley by Bro. T. M. Dalton in the shapo of two nice books. Mr M. Cook, D.S.J.T., Christchureh, sent the prizes from hio glass 'factory, and they were much appreciated by the young folks who r* eoived them'. Bro. Innes suoke a few words on behalf of the superintendent, feelingly referring to the death, of the great and good Queen Victoria. Bro,' Beisell played in an efficient manner the " Dead March" in " Saul," ar.d the mooting closed with prayer. It is intend'd that the meeting next Saturday shall take (he form of a sacred service in memory of our late beloved Queen's fuueral. Suitable solos will be sung. Everyone invited to attend at 7 p.m. The fortnightly meeting of the Lpyal Dunedin Lodge was held in the lodgeroom, No. 19 George street, last evening, N.G. Bro. Trewcren presiding.
