OBITUARY
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 30. (Received Jan. 31, at 8.50 a.m.) The Rev. H. R. Haweis; aged 62 years. [The Rev. Hugh Reginald Haweis was born in IS3B, his father having been one of the founders of the London Missionary Society. At 14 years of age tho subject of these remarks was quite a remarkable violinist, being a favourite pupil of Oury, an old pupil of Paganini, He took his B.A. degree ill 1559, and then set out to travel, visiting Italy, and cultivating bis strong artistic tastes. He returned to Cambridge, and took holy orders, and sought a curacy in tho East End of London, eventually accepting the incumbancy of St. James's, Westmoreland street, whore he gathered together a very large congregation. He rapidly became known as a journalist, and then devoted much time to literature, his most popular books being "Music and Morals" and "Thoughts for the Times." A few years since Mr Haweis visited tho colonies on a lecturing tour.] (Received Jan. 31, at 9.1 a.m.) Baron Wilhelm Rothschild, of Frankfort, is dead.
