THE LATE MR W. SWAN.

Tlio ftmcral of (he late Mr William Swan took place yesterday. The remains were followed from the deceased gentleman's late residence in George street to their last resting place in the Northern Cemetery by a large number of citizens and public officials. Mr John Swan (deceased's brother) and Sir J. Swan, jnn., weroiamongst tho representatives of the family, and Mr J. Mitchell (Mr Swan's old partner) was also present. The City Council was represented by the Mayor (Mr Clusholm), the whole of the councillors, the town clerk (Mr Fairbairn) the city surveyor (Mr Mirams), and Mr J: Barron (inspector); of the trustees of the Benevolent Institution there were present the chairman (Mr C. Haynes), the Hon. H. Gourley, Mr P. Tresseder, and Mr Clnlee (secretary), Sir E. Mee (master of tho institution) lx>ing also present; the Caledonian Society had representatives in Dr Gordon Maedonald (president), Mr \V. Reid (secretary), and Messrs C. F. Greenslade, J, Miehie, and P. Wilson; and amongst others in attendance were Mr J. F. Arnold, M.H.R., Messrs A. Lees, H. J. Walter, J. Jack, W. Smith, J. Donaldson, J. Freeman, R, Bain, D. Heenan, S. M'Donald, J. Samson, 11. Allen, C. S. Reeves, A. Gray, G. C. Israel, J. M. Gallaway, G. Cakler, W. Walhen, R. M'Kcnzie, J. Kerr, and I. Green. The Rev. J. Gibb officiated at the grave.
