— Michael Burns, a well-known character in the Durham mining district, has just died at Stanley, - aged about 70 years. His wife died, in May, 1806, and for over 14- years, states the Newcastle Leader, Michael had watched day and night, a faithful sentinel, by the side of her grave, only leaving to take • his meals. During the past few weeks he had abandoned hie post owing to. weakness.
