OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.

There appears in our advertising columns this morning particulars of the various competitions to be held under the auspices of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society during the next few months. The first is in connection with the best-managed farm. The area of the farms is limited from 100 to 400 acres, and we hope to see this year a larger number of entries for this important class than in the past, as the society has not had the support in this respect it is entitled to look for, The judge will be appointed at'tho next meeting of the committee. There am several classes for competition for the best fields of turnips, and which should receive strong support. No farmer can dispute the fact that a little extra attention paid to his crop, to enable him to gain any of the valuable prizes offered, will be both time and money well expended. The annual winter show and fat stock competition will be held on May 22 and the three following days. The committee will be pleased to receive any suggestions from members or exhibitors in connection with the show. Up to the present time Dunedin has the honour of having the premier winter show in the colony. Now that a number of other societies are seeking to emulate our winter show, it shouldMje better supported even than in the past.
