DUNEDIN HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

AN IMPORTANT CONFERENCE. The Dimodin Horticultural Society's committee met last evening, and piwscd the prize list and accounts for the lato show for payment. The qhe3tion of the Rose d'Evian being a tea, or hybrid t°a, having heen brought up by the rose judges at the lato show, it was decided to refer the matter to the Royal Horticultural Society, as the award of prizes deponde upon the derision, The soeretary announces that prize money and accounts will be payable on Monday, the 1411; inst. A communication was received from the Department of Agriculture asking for particulars of the crops of fruit grown in Dunedin and surrounding districts. It was suggested that growers should communicate with tho secretary of the society on the matter.— It was agreed to supply the information as far as possible. A special committee was appointed to make arrangements for the conference of horticulturists, pomologists. viticußurists, entomologists, Sc, to bo held in Dunedin during the winter show week of the Otago A. and P. Society'. It was intimated by the Minister of Agriculture that the Railway department had agreed to ifsuo tickets to delegates at excursion rates, and it was hoped the steamer companies would do likewise. It in expected that close on 200 delegates from nil parts of the colony will aesomb'.o in Dunedin on the occasion. Papers will be read and delegates will brinij thoir own exhibits. There is a promisothat the nxhibiton will furnish ono of the finest fruit shows ever seen in Dimedin. DeTcirates from various islands in tho South Pacific will nlso attend, bringing exhibits of fruit, &<•., with them.
