LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs W. Dallas (in tho chair), J. Dunoan, and H. H. Earkpatrick. The application of John Brown for one acre, being part of section 4, block IX, Kaitangata district, was referred to tho ranger for report. William Hambly applied for a renewal of his license over part of section 51, blook I, Kock and Pillar-district. —Renewed on former terms, to date from sth January. Mr A. L. Hordman, on behalf of the Idaburn Saleyards Company, applied for an area of fivo acres oa runs 225p and 255g, upon which to erect yards.—Consideration deferred. Tho application of David M'Connoehie, jun., for about 30 acres on the Earnscleugh Plat, adjoining the Earnscleugh station, under an occupation lease was declined. It was resolved that run 17a and section 1, block VIII, Doniet district, bo offered as pastoral run for a term of 10 years at an upset rental of £25 per. annum; ranger to make ■yalualiou for improvements. Henry Birley was granted a hand sawyer's and wood outter-'s license over 20 aores in Mount Alfred Bush, blocks 111 and IV, Dart district, for one year; license fee £7 10s. Frank Thomson was granted a license to cut firewood over an area of 10 acres at Bay Burn, Upper Wanaka, at a royally of Is per cord. It was decided that the surrender of the following 'bo Tcc.ommonded for Minister's approval, the area being too small and the ground too poor to be profitably occupied:—Small grazing run leaso over sections 4 and 5, block IX, Kuriwao district, held by S. J. German, and small grazing run lease over sections 2 and 3, block IX, Kuriwao district, hold by Mrs Annie Muir.

The application of Mrs Lena Stafford for an occupation lease over 43 acres on Black's Flat, block 11, Tiger Hill district, wa3 referred to the ranger for a. report. John Macdonald was granted an occupation lea-se over,so acres on run 199E, Teviot district, at a rental of Is per acre. The resolutions declaring the holdings of the following forfeited were rescinded, arrears having been paid:—H. J. and C. Hansen, J. Murray,'J. M'Kay, A. E.. Spain, James Hore, T. Spain. The offer, of James Burke for the crop of ryegrass seed now growing on sections 10 and 17, block XIV, Poniahaka Downs estate, was accepted. The following were approved:—For rural land for cash—James Cox, section 14, blook VIII, Katlins district; for rural land on O.R.P,— Hugh M'Kenzie, section 5, block IX, Martin's Bay; for rural land on L.I.P.—S. G. Smith, section 23, block XVI, Mauiototo district; to exchange P.L. for L.1.P.-C. F. Watkins, section 5, block XIII, Tarras district; applications to [transfer—E. Whyte, jun;, to Ann Whyte, ' allotment 27, Maercwhonua estate; Jaiset Whyte to Robert Whyte, allotment 28, Maerewhenua estate; Jarnes Whitehead to Chas. Whitehead, sections G and '9, block XVIII, Maniototo district. The applications of the following to surrender were referred to the ranger for reports:—E. Ward, sections 41 and 43, block IV, Glcnornaru district; James Pullar, sections 22 and 28, block I, Woodland district. The valuation for improvements on sections 58, 59, and 62, block V, Strath-Taieri district, was reduced to £0 4s. The valuation of the improvements on run 179—163 and KaA.-aniounting to £2C9 ss, was approved. The application of Mrs M. Ballingall for a license to occupy section 24 and part of section 25, block XV, Suttpn district, was referred to the ranger. A petition was received from miners at Tablo Hill requesting that sections 13 to 17, block VII, and 18 and 21, block V, Table Hill district, be withdrawn from sale under pastoral license.— Request complied with. The application of E. A. and O. Williamson to surrender their small grazing run leases 94 c.T. and 95 c.T., over sections 9, 10, and 11, block VIII, Kuriwao district, was recommended for Minister's approval, the board being of opinion that the land was too poor and areas too small to be profitably occupied,
