DRESSMAKERS' OVERTIME. TO THE EDITOH.

Sin,—Why is it that although the girls employed in largo dressmaking establishments (who'at present are working overtime), according to the-factories Act, should receive 6;1 an hour overtime, the four hours are reckoned as half a day and the girls are paid accordingly? For instance, girls whose wages are ss, 7s 6cl, and 10s, instead of receiving 2s for the four hours' overtime, receive sd, 7d, and lOd. Those that- get 30s per week receive 2s 6d. It is generally one responsible for the time who regulates this matter, and it is certainly to her advantage to work into the hands of her employers. Trusting you will publish this on our behalf. —-We are, etc., Maxt- ace the Victims. Duncdin, December 18.
