CANTERBURY-OTAGO CRICKET MATCH. TO THE EDITOR.

Sin. —l notice that not a single member of the Dunedin Cricket Club lms been picked to represent his province in this important fixture. This reems strange, as there can be little doubt time both R. Wilkie and Latham liavo shown form this season entitling- them to a place. Dame Rumour has it that the Dunedin Club has a grievance against the governing body. If this is so, sviroly some inquiry could be made. It is said that Dunedin Club members chosen to practise refused to take any part. Can it be that, if there is no grievance, this clnh is to hp allowed to rule the gamo here? It would be well if the Cricket Association showed a HtUe more grit in dealing with malcontents. I notice that Mr Skitch is to official as one of the umpires in tho forthcoming match. As Mr Skitch is a. leading light in the Dunedin Club, surely in bis own interest? it would be wife for him to stand aside until the reported differences between some of bis club mates and the association are settled.—T am, etc.. December 19. Old Cricketer.

WHAT MRS BOWLES FOUND OUT. A hard thump on one's head may make it ache, but most headaches come without the aid of thumps or bumps. They are caused by poisons in the blood acting on the nerves. The same is true of pains and lameness in the muscles of the back and sides—including rheumatism and lumbago. Mrs Man- Bowles will tell us about hers, and liow she s?ot over them at last; and a thankful woman she is for it. " About 10 years afro," she says in her letter, "my bno'tand sides used to ache so bad that I was often perfectly helpless and prostrate. .Sometimes for weeks continuously I could not raise my hand to any kind of work. "For the lost 35 years I have'worked at dairying and farming in this district. I am now turned 76 years old, and am well known fhrnmrhout the district.

"When I first felt the pains in my back and chest I went to a chemist, who gave me n. piaster to put on. This relieved m<Tslightly for a clay or Iwo: then the pains were as bad as ever. I found out that it was my liver and kidneys flint caused the trouble, aiid was prescribed for by three doctors and a chemist; but no good came of all they did. " The pains I suffered in trying to pass the Morel inn from the kidneys were terrible- I could hardly bear them. By this time I was ?o bad I didn't know what to do or where to turn for help. What would have become of me if it had not been for Mother Scigel's Syrup I dare, not think.

" But, as ;i kind Providence ordained it. I faw an advertisement of a case like mine being cured by that medicine, and I got a bottle from a chemist ;'n Muswellhrook. That single bottle relieved 313 very much, and by continuing to use the Syrup of the good Mother Siogel I got well.

" I now attend to my work as I did before the complaint rams upon me—thanks to this remedy that wa^ brought from England to Australia, where it- does such a lot of good.

"I.keep it all the time in tho house, and always mean to. And when anybody is ill among my ncnuain lances or friend?, I tell thorn to take Mother Seigel's Syrup, for if anything will cure them that will."—Mrs Mary Bowles. Kaynga. near Muswellbrook, N.S.W., September 21. 1899.

The character of Mrs Bowles, and the truth of the above slntemnnt made by her, is vouched for by Air C. ,T. Spraft,' auctioneer for the Farmers' Association. Muswellbrook— who sny« she has resided in the district 35 years, and he has known her personally for eight years.
