THE INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL.
At the annual break-up of this institution tho prizes were distributed by Mr Mark Cohen, who represented the Board of Advice. Miss Sievwright (official visitor) and Mr A. Thompson were also present. It -was mentioned.by Mr Burn, M.A.. who has charge of the. school, that the whole of the pupils of the Fifth Standard who were " presented " this year hod passed the inspectors' examination—a record which the school has every reason to Ire proml of. Lizzie Mills, who was awarded a silver pencil case, suitably engraved (the gift of Mr Burn), had on two previous occasions been second for tho same prize, but this year she easily distanced all competitors. The children rang a number of songs very nicely, the " Singing lesson " being heartily applauded. Miss Christie accompanied on the organ. The following is the"prize-list: — Most popular hoy (Mr Cohen's prize), David Forsyth; best-behaved boy in school (the master's prize). David Forsyth; office boy, Alexander Clark; most useful boy, William B. Keeler; garden boys, John H. Garrick and William Johnston; mail and paper boy, Eric Grantley. Most popular girl (Mrs' Mark Cohen's prize), Elizabeth Sing Hing; best-be-haved girl (Mrs Burlinson's prize), Lizzie Mills; best gardens, Sarah Allison, Charlotte Frame; most industrious girl, Lizzie Sing Hing; sewing prizes, Sarah Allison, Annie Dow. ' DAY SCHOOL PRIZES. Standnrd V (presented by Mr Burn).—Eliza Ashton 1, Mary J. Fraser 2. . Standard IV (presented by Mr Burn).— Lizzie Mills, Edward Simpson, John Boyd (equal). Standard 111 (presented by Mr Burn).— Charles Whiltakcr and Richard Jopson (equal); diligence prize, John H. Garrick. Standard II (presented by Miss Christie). — Robert Quin 1, John J.
