CAPE COLONY AGAIN INVADED.

SOME SHARP FIGHTING. LONDON, December 19. (Received Dec. 20, at 9.3 a.m.)

One column of invaders advanced upon Philipstown, in Northern Cape Colony, at the same time as Commandant Hertzog advanced with' a strong commando to near Burghersdorp.

Sharp fighting took place between the British forces and both Boer commandos, and in each instance the British were successful. The latest report is to the effect that the Boer 'guerillas are retreating toivards the Orange River.

December 20. (Received Dec. 21, at 1.28 a.m.) Reports from the Cape are minimised by official circles in London. It is admitted that several isolated groups of Boers crossed the- river southwards.
