NEWCASTLE, December 20.—Sailed Brisbane, for Lyttelton.

Tho s.s. Monowai left for Sydney yesterday afternoon. The schooner Enterprise, with a cai-go of 69,335 ft of kauri timber, was berthed at the Eattray street wharf yesterday. The s.s. Te Auau, from Auckland, via East Coast,norts, arrived at 1 p.m. yesterday, and ■was berthed at the tongue wharf. She left Auckland on the 15th inst., and called at the linml way ports. Had fresh N.E. winds with

heavy rain to Gisborne; thence moderate variable winds and smooth sea to arrival.

She sails from Port Chaltner3 this afternoon on arrival of the 3.35 p.m. train. The schooner Isabella Anderson left for Kaipnra yesterday. The barque Olenmark, which left Monte Video oil November 5, arrived off Otago Heads yesterday morning, after a fair passago of 45 days, and received orders to proceed to Wellington. The scow Moana took advantage of the favourable S.W. breeze yesterday morning and sailed for Timaru.

" The brig Fairy Rock left; Port Chalmers yesterday morning for Auckland. The Grace Harwar, from Capetown, under charter to the New Zealand Shipping-Com-pany, arrived at the heads at noon yesterday, received orders, and sailed for Gisborne. The Registrar-general of Shipping has allotted the signal flags " SBJQ " to the New Zealand Government steamer Tutanekai, of Wellington, and "the letters "PRTB" to the s.s. Rirou, of Dunediu. The ship Invercargill, Captain Tom Bowling, which left Liverpool on September 28 for this port, and was first spoken on October 5 in lat. 49 N., long. 10 W., was again communicated with on October 25 in lat. 15 N., long. 26 W, She is now 84 days out, and should soon put in an appearance. The s.s. Kini steamed down from Dunedm yesterday morning and went alongside the Bowen pier to discharge a quantity of coal before going into dock. ■ The barquentine Senorita, was floated out of the graving dock yesterday morning, and was Rwung for the adjustment of her compasses. She was afterwards berthed at the export pier to take in cargo for Kaipara.

ARRIVAL OF' THE STAR OF ENGLAND.

The Tyser lino steamer Star of England arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon and was berthed at the George street pier at the ton of high water, her draught being JOit 3in forward and 22ft Bin aft. The Star of England is a handsome steel screw sto-.iner of 3696 tons register, rigged as a brigantiiW. She was built at the yards of Messrs Workman, Clarke, and Co., Belfast, in I8!i9. SI c is'"37lft Bin long, <Wft 2in breadth of beam, and 27ft 2in in depth. " Her engines are en the triple-expansion principle, the diameter of the cylinders being 26£ in, 44m, and 72m respectively, with a length of stroke of 48in She is under the command of Captam bV.W. Ullyatt, the executive officers being Mr. J. D' Wilson chief, Mr C. Hilder second, Mr A. West third, and Mr S. Poeock fourth,. The engines are in charge of Mr B. Walls, chief; and Messrs T. Adams, R. Jones, and C. Grindley are respectively second, thif-1, and fourth. The refrigerating engineers are Messrs Hyndman and M.' Dougall. She brings some 900 tons of general cargo, and commenced discharging as soon as she was made fast at the George street, pier yesterday afternoon. She left London'for New York on September 7, and whilst crossing the Atlantic she encountered a furious cyclonic storm, attended by tremendous seas, which caused her to roll heavily and ship great quantities of water, but she arrivedat New York without mishap, and after loading cargo left on the 18th. Had moderate weather, and reached Melbourne on N,ovem; ber 21; proceeded to Sydney, left that port again on December .1, called at Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She left, the latter port at 4.20 p.m. of the 19th inst., and arrived as above. She goes from this port to the I'.lnff and Wanganui to complete loading for Home. .
