Sib,—At the recent public meeting in-tha To*n Hall unreasonable heat was displayed by, two or three speakers in" attacking the Government, while, according to Mr Hoaking's reading1 of the Premier's message, it was reasonable to suppose that a bill dealing with . patriotic funds in country . districts might be passed in such a shape as- to satisfy all parties. Large balances are said to lie in the hands of. country committees, and legislation is evidently required there.
