MEETINGS AND ENTERTAINMENTS
At a largely attended meeting in the Stafford street Hall last evening, it was decided to form :i Central Mission Girls' Guild. Sister Marie was unanimously elected president; Mesdames Sinclair, A. C. Broad, and W. R. Don, and Sister En Hi vice-presidents; Miss A. M'Gregor secretary; and Miss Harrison treasurer. It was decided to meet every Tuesday evening. The evenings are to be devoted to fancy, work, calisthenics, drawing, elocution, and mutual improvement. It is also intended to hold a cooking class, a stove having been placed in the hall for the use of the mothers' meeting. The guild commences with a membership of about -19, and will be opened with a social gathering in the Stafford street Hall on Tuesdny, August 7.
The Hope of Caversham Loc7ge heid their weekly meeting in the old Edinburgh Castle Hotel 01^ Thursday, Bro. Yates, C.T., presiding. The Evergreen Lodge, recently started at Green Island, were received officially. After the usual business the election of officers was proceeded with. The following were nominated and appointed:—Bro. Clarkson, Chief Templar; Sis. South, Vice-Templar; Bro. Yates, Past Chief Templar; Sis. Clarkson, secretary; Sis. Dunn, chaplain ; Bio. Hasty, financial secretary, Sis. Searle, treasurer; Bro. Brough, marshal; lire. Scarle, guard; and Bro. Tily, .sentinel. Harmony was indulged in, when (he following contributed: — Sis. South, jun., pianoforte solo; Bro. Mackie, song; Sis. Ocven, song (encored); Bro. Stubbs, song (encored); and Sis. A. Thorn, song. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the visitors, and the following responded :,—Bro. E. South (Evergreen), Bro. Mackie (Pioneer), and Bro. Stubb? (Alliance).
