GISBORNE, July 27. -A man named John EJJeran was killed •whilst bush-felling at Paritu to-day.
NELSON, July 27. A woman named Mrs Higgins died suddenly yesterday. At the inquest it appeared that she drank carbolic acid in mistake for beer. A verdict was returned accordingly.
Mrs Catherine Woodhead, a respected resident of Arrowtown since the early sixties, died there yesterday morning, after a short illness.
Frederick Abelstead, residing at Musselburgh, fractured three of his ribs on Thursday evening through falling into a pit at ■^forth-East "Valley.
