MISSIONARIES ORDERED TO THE COAST.
HONGKONG, July 26. (Received July 27, at 1 a.m.)
Fearing a general rising., all the missionaries have been ordered to Shanghai and
Hongkong.
FRENCH AND RUSSIAN DESIGNS.
TRYING TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE. LONDON, July 25. (Received July 26, at 10.30 a.m.)
Reuters Agency report Hint the Russians ,at Tientsin seek to obtain control of the Taku-Peking railway.
Admiral Seymour has disapproved of the Russians repairing the railway beyond Tientsin. He considers that the work was entrusted to t-lio British.
The French' are also said to seek control of the river tugs.
It is believed that France and Russia propose to share their control.
The British residents view with apprehension an exclusive Russian or French control of either means of transport, as such a step would be a serious menace to British interests.
The many different languages of those engaged are hampering concerted action on the part of the Allies at Tientsin.
