A Wellington telegram says:—"The New Zealand Rugby Union has decided to inform the New South Wales and Queensland Unions of the opinion that each colony should in future finance its own travelling teams. It has also decided to ask> the Taranaki Union to rehear the charge against Beckett and Callaghan, who wore suspended for a season, on the ground that no notice was given to the men, who consequently had no opportunity of defending' themselves." An lnvercargill telegram states that the Star football team was defeated yesterday for the first time in six seasons by a try to nil, the Britannia Club being the winners. The Stars held the premiership of the district for 11 years in succession. It is current that this will be their last season, a reason assigned being the tendency to roughness in play that is gaining ground being practically unchecked.

The Flag Committee met last night and arranged the following grounds and matches for Saturday: —

Senior.—Union v. Pirates, on the Caledonian ground; University v. Zingari-Richmond, Montecillo; Kaikorai v. Dunedin, at' Bishopscourt; Alhambra v. Southern, at Opoho. Junior.—Ravensbourne v. Port Chalmers, at Port Chalmers; Dunedin v. Pirates, at Carisbrook; Kaikorai v. Southern, at Tahuna Park; Union v. Zingari-Richmond, on the North ground.

Third grade.—Southern v. Zingari-Richmond, at iramsheds; Dunedin v. Alhambra, on the R»c!aiined ground; . High School v. Pirates, Asylum ground; I'avensbourne v. Port Chalmers, Ravenabourne.
