NATIONAL DAIRY ASSOCIATION.

STRATFORD, July 25.

The National Dairy Association met yesterday. The business of'the morning was mostly of an executive nature. Mr Harkness occupied the chair, and was again re. elected president.

A resolution was passed practically debarring exporters from buying the* produce of factories not belonging to the association. A resolution was also passed asking the Minister to pass legislation to l-elieve the co-operative dairies of the income tax ; also that, in the opinion of the meeting, it is desirable that dairy produce for exportation should be sent direct from the factory to the cool storage at Wellington ; that the attention of the Minister of Agriculture be called to the fact that several co-operative dairy factories have already paid income tax on last year's return's, and if the Land and Income Tax department decline to refund that, that lie be requested to place a sufficient sum on the Supplementary Estimates to reimburse the dairy companies the amount paid to the Income Tax department ; and that a copy of this and other resolutions be forwarded to the Hon. Mr Duncan ; that the association desire to place on record their appreciation of the work done by the Government on behalf of the dairy industry in the colony, and in this connection especially wish to express their thanks to Mr J." D. Ritchie, secretary of agriculture, for the manner in which he has taken in hand the initiation work, instruction in grading, free freezing, and general improvements in our products. Addresses were delivered by Mi MacEwan on " Our Markets," Mr Lang " Inspection of Sheds and Herds," and Mr M'Gowan "Dairy Equipment.''

The executive were entertained at a banquet in the evening by the Stratford Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting recommended the holding of the next animal meeting at Palmerston North,
