Details of the relief of Kumassi show that Colonel Willcocks deceived the Ashantis in regard to his route. ■ . -
Hard fighting took place on the 14th and 15th inst. at Yaruba. , /
The native soldiers gallantly stormed the tribesmen's stockades at the point of the bayonet. They destroyed the Ashanti camp and killed many of the enemy.
The Kumassi garrison were so. enfeebled when relieved that they had to be removed to Tamsu in. hammocks.
