The Empress of India, sprang a leak in a heavy sea and smashed her wheel coming into the hartiour. She then drifted ashore. The survivors clung to the bottom of a boat, and were rescued by the pilot boat.

The Empress of India is a total wreck. The'vessel was insured with the National. Insurance Company of New Zealand for £500.
PERTH, July 25. (Received July 25, at 10.20 a.m.)
During a violent galo at Hamelin on Sunday the barques Nor'-wester, Lovespring, and Kintinka were driven ashore. The mate and four seamen of the Kintinka were drowned. Miles of telegraph lines were destroyed by, the storm.
