Enthusiast.—The number of troops despatched from India to Africa is as follows-— Field batteries, 4 (24 guns), 619 officers and mencavalry regiments, 3 guns, 1383 officers and men; infantry battalions, 3602 officers and men; total, 5724 officers and men. One of these regiments of cavalry (the 9th Lancers) was ' sent on to the Capo, consisting of 46S officers and men. Major Kennedy informs us that he does not know the length of the -1.7 suns There are tlirco different patterns of the gun in use in the navy at present.
