MASONIC.
The annual meeting of Lodge St. John Kilwinning, No. 662, S.C., was held in the Public Halt, North-East Valley, on Thursday evening, when all the sister ledges under the different constitutions were fully represented. Amerig the "visitors present were the It. W. Kro. T. S. Graham, District Grand Master of Otago and Southland, E.C., attended by his deputy and grand officers, also Bro. IJ. A. M'Nicoll, P.D.P.G.M., 1.0., and the R.W. Bro. J. Gore, District Grand Master N.Z. South, S.C., with the officers of his District Grand Ledge. The lodge was opened at, 7.30 by the R.W.M. Bro. William Armstead, and the routine business gone through. The chair was then taken by the R.W. Bro. Gore, D.G.M., S.C., the several grand officers assuming the subordinate stations, and, after the usual preliminaries, the R.W. Grand Master, Bro. Goro, proceeded, according to ancient custom, to instal the R.W. Bro. David Sutherland Munro as R.W.M. for the ensu- i ingyear in the presence of a full board of in- ! .stalled masters. The whole of the i ceremonies were ably and impres- i sively carried out under the supervision of Bro. W. S. .Barnard, D.G.D.0., K.C. The Masonic Choir, under Bro. D. Cooke, were present, and rendered some ap- j piopriate music. The R.W.M. was proclaimed and saluted, and Bro. Neill, D.G. Secretary, j proceeded to obligate and invest the follow- | ing officers :—D.M. Bro. James Farquharson, P.M.: S.M., Bro. A. M'Lean, P.M.; S.W., Bro. W. J. Strong ;i j.W., Bro. G. K. Bennett; treasurer, Bro. J. H. Spencer ; secretary, Bro. J. Abbott; chaplain, R.W. Bro. D. Cl-errie; organist, Bro. A. Karris; S.D., Bro. W. H. I Eislop: J.D., Bro. 0. Campbell; 1.G.. Bro. 1 F. Smith, jun.; stewards, Bros. Bailey, Camp- ! bell, Anderson, Hopkins, and Gillies ; audi- ! tors, Bros. F. Smith, jun., and Thoo. Arnold, ; P.M.; tyler, Bro. H. R. Meyer. The R.W. : Bro. Gore addressed the R.W.M. in earnest ! terms on the nature of his exalted office. The . wardens were addressed by Bro. T. S. Graham, : R.W.D.G.M., E.C., and the R.W. Bro. D. i A. M'Nicoll, P.D.P.G.M., 1.C., addressed the '■ brethren. The E.W, Bro. D. Cherrie, chaplain '. of the lodge, next offered prayer,, and i.he R.W.M. received the congratulations of all present, to which he replied in suitable terms. Bro. Arnold, P.M., then presented the Immediate Past Master, Bro. Armstead, with a P.M.'s jewel in massive gold, suitably inscribed, in recognition of his past services. Bro. Armstead suitably replied. The ledge was next closed in form, and an adjournment made to the Lower Hall, where the visitors and brethren were entertained in good style. The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured. The health of the R.W.M. was drunk with all the honours, and responded to by Bro. Munro. "The visitors," a favourite j toast with the brethren of St. John's, was ac- ' kuowledged by Bro. Gore, S.C., Bro. T. S. : Graham, E.G., and the W. Musters of sister lodges. During the course of tlio evening some excellent .songs wore rendered by mem- I bers of the Masonic Choir. I
